The Fashion Show

 
 

This year's runway collection was a response to the 2016 presidential election. Curated with a focus on fashion activism, it challenged guests to not until 2020 to vote for the world they want to create but instead offered a way to cast their most powerful vote, now, every time they go shopping.

PLANET

Fashion is pollution our waterways, our bodies, and our landfills so the Fair Trade Fashion Show focused on small batch productions, non-toxic dyes, and organic fibers.

PEOPLE OF COLOR

Many of the most vulnerable and most exploited populations are people who are targeted simply because of their skin. Since 97% of fashion sold in America isn’t Made in America, so The Fair Trade Fashion Show focused on brands that support and uplift marginalized people in 12 different countries – including our own.

 

 

 

 

ANIMALS

Animals suffer greatly and unnecessarily for fashion, so the Fair Trade Fashion Show focused on creating an entirely vegan collection – without a single piece of leather, wool, silk, bone, or other part of any other living being.

WOMEN

This year this there is exactly 1 female CEO of Fortune 500 apparel company, so the Fair Trade Fashion Show focused on showcasing 25 woman owned businesses that empower female artisans and female entrepreneurs.

Fair trade vendors joined us to share clothing, jewelry, accessories, beauty, and home goods with our guests.


Food + Drink

8 brands

Chefs and brands joined us to share fair trade and vegan items from sushi to tostadas to pizza bagels, as well as an organic open bar. 


Swag

Fair trade brands donated samples and gifts for our VIP and general swag bags.
